How to export the registry in windows

I dont know how many of you have heard about the windows registry. For those who doesnt know about the registry,

The windows Registry is a database that stores settings and options for MS windows. it stores the information and settings for hardware, operating system, and other softwares. Registry also saves the information about the users, their settings ..etc.Registry also manage with all the informations about performance,operation of kernel ..etc.

So how to edit and add some informations to the registry ?

Note: Before doing all the registry edit, you have to back up the registry. otherwise that will end up losing Windows itself. Please see the section "Backing up" to know how to back up registry.

Follow the steps to edit the registry
  • Goto Start->Run
  • Type "Regedit" (with out double quotes ) and click OK
  • Now you can see the registry editor. Now select File->Export

  • Now you can export the registry. the things to be remembered when exporting is that make sure that you selected the checkbox "All". also give proper name for the file. This will help you later to check why you back up the registry
