The new PayPal policy changes makes the Indian customers' life miserable




PayPal has done it again. They've changed the policies for their India location as per the RBI guidelines. According to the new policy the changes are

with effect from 1 March 2011 as follows:

1. Any balance in and all future payments into your PayPal account may not be used to buy goods or services and must be transferred to your bank account in India within 7 days from the receipt of confirmation from the buyer in respect of the goods or services; and
2. Export-related payments for goods and services into your PayPal account may not exceed US$500 per transaction.

This is really a sad news for the Indian customers. The first one somehow seems to be okay, because we can do transfer the amount to our bank with in 7 days and we are responsible for paying the tax , But what is the second policy change ?


why they need to limit the maximum transaction amount to 500$ ? it will be okay if the client is ready to pay the amount in multiple transaction but how many of them will do it ?


Because sending multiple transactions will be a burden for them also. It will not be easy to make a track of the payments if the amount is huge.I'm completely against the second policy

Kindle 1 :

This is some what tough to do. the first thing to try is press

ALT +SHIFT+R in your kindle. This should do a soft reset on the device and kindle should reboot now

if that doesn’t work, then we should go for a hard reset. following are the steps to do a hard reset.

Remove back cover of Kindle
you can do it by gently pressing and holding the back cover and slide it to the right side.
Look for the Reset button
You can see a reset button on top of the battery compartment.See it in the above figure
Now using  a paper clip or small object , press on the reset button. after some minutes the kindle should restart and turn on.
There’s always a final note:
if both the above reset didn’t work, then try this also

• Remove the battery from your kindle
• Directly connect to the AC adapter with out the battery
• Put back the battery and let it charge for some time.

Kindle 2 / Kindle DX :

Kindle 2 / Kindle DX reset is more easier than Kindle 1

for Kindle 2 , its not easy removing the cover. so Amazon has given a nice function to reset from power button itself

Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. this should do the soft reset on kindle 2 / kindle dx

PayPal is not allowing payment to India

    Its a very sad news i saw this today morning .PayPal stopped sending personal payments to or from India. I came to know about this when one of my friend got this following mail. a drastic decision . isn’t it ?

Hello Name,
Your payment of  $$ has been sent back to the sender of the payment. 
We reversed this payment because we have stopped allowing personal payments to be sent to or from India.
If this was a payment for a purchase of goods or services, and not a personal payment, then you may contact the buyer and have him or her resend the payment as follows:  (a) click the Send Money tab, (b) select "Goods," and (c) provide a shipping address.
If this payment was a personal payment such as a gift, then we have requested that the sender find another payment method until we restore personal payments to and from India.
We are trying to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and we're sorry for any inconvenience.

I don't know why PayPal took such a decision to stop all the personal payments to India although they allows commercial payments. My friend told me that either the merchants' account nor his account credited the money back.

This seems to be a temporary decision . we need to wait until PayPal resolves this issue. But the most confusing part is why PayPal didn't sent any notification  about this to their Indian users.

The possible other options are to use the other services like Money bookers, Alert Pay.. etc . These are known as pay pal alternatives. But i think Alert Pay also not allowing transferring money to the Indian bank accounts.

Ever thought about having Query strings for HTML pages ? or even getting the query string values in JavaScript. Here is one  JavaScript implementation of the "Request Object" that can retrieve the query string values.Currently only getting the query string values are possible. For this we need to include the following script in the html page

Either this script can be put in  a seperate .js file and include in the HTML page . Or it can be directly put inside the script Tag.

The Serverfunctions.js is the file which has the Request Object code.Which will be under the same directory where the HTML page is.
I saved the page as Test.html . Now we will test our sample.
Open the HTML page in browser with some querystrings, let it be like this

Test.html?QStr=1&Y=2&Z=3

This will alert the value of "QStr".
(Note: the QueryString name is not case sensitive. even if we give "QSTR" instead of "QStr" , it will work )
Similarly, We can use the "Request.QueryString()" to see all the Querystrings available
So if we slightly modify the script like this in our HTML page

this will alert all the querystring values as a string. like the following

"QStr=1&Y=2&Z=3"

Things to remember:
1.The Request Object and all the Functions are case sensitive.ie, you cannot use "request.querystring()". It should be always
"Request.QueryString()"

Here are the steps to change the file application in windows XP

1. Go to “My Computer” and select the “Tools –> Folder Options” from the menu

2. Now go to the “File Types” TAB

 

3. Now Scroll down to the type of file you need to change the application . here i am going to change the file application of a .JPG file as an example

4. Click on the “Change” button , so that you will get a list of application to select

5. Select the new application you want to open the .JPG file from here after. also make sure that you have checked the box named “Always open the selected program to open this kind of file”

network.Google put these ads on their search results ( as sponsored results ) and also in the
large advertisement sites. When ever a visitor clicks on these ads, advertiser pays google for the click.this is what called adwords.

Now comes the adsense. its mainly for the publishers. any website owner who has a content rich
website can apply for the google adsense. In some countries google put a restriction that the site
should be active for six months before applying for the adsense account. So once the account is activated , google will put Ads on the publisher's website. google has custom javascript codes for showing the content based on the publisher's website content. So smart they are !! when the visitor clicks on these ads, then the advertiser pays google a particular charge and the publisher will get some commission of this amount.

• Yahoo publisher network

• Kontera

Kontera is another CPC program. They follows a different kind of Advertisement in the publisher website ( even though the basic definition is same). I mean, the basic flow is same as google adsense. the advertiser is paying for the click on the ads appearing on the publisher's site and publisher is getting the commission for this click.

The difference here is how they are displaying the ads in the publisher's website. They are using a different technique called "In -text advertising " . Its bit different from the techniques which yahoo and google are using. Yahoo and google will show the content in some boxes as links based on the content of the website. but in "In -text advertising" , they will convert the existing content words into links. They wont do it for all the words in the links, instead they will select the random ( or they will be having a different algorithm for selecting the words ) and make them as links. so when the visitor mouse over in this links, he can see the advertisement. Once he clicks on this advertisement, then he is redircted to the advertiser's website and the advertiser pay for that.Kontera is a nice choice for most of them who probably got disabled their adsense account.

3.How to analyze CPC

There are different tools available online for showing the high paying keywords and their CPC. Basically most of the tools query the search engine and find out the frequency of a keyword is used and the price value of that keyword. As i told earlier, the CPC is the amount in which the advertiser is paying to the advertising company, most of the CPC rates will be hidden. One of the main policy of the google adsense is that, they wont reveal the CPC rate of the ads they are showing in the publisher website.
